KPL Weekly Poetry - The Derby Report

Thunderous applause by thousands
Thousands of fans on the stands
Kick off let the derby begin
Gor Mahia in white and green
AFC Leopards in red and black
Forwards go forth both sides in attack

Serunkuma screws a little wide
Then he runs and cuts inside
A pass to Kiongera who shoots
But Matasi blocks it back to play
And again it finds Kiongera's boots
Another Matasi saving display
Before the crossbar sees it away

Leopards bombard the other goal
The three W's on the prowl
Wanga, Were and Wafula
The former files a cross into the area
The latter pounces on it and taps it in
Into the net past a dejected Jerim
Unexpectedly Ingwe are leading
And they go into the break beaming

Second half gets underway
And it looks like this is Ingwe's day
As they cruise on a counter-attack
Running swift and wild in a pack
Were finishes with a curling rocket
And Solomon Nasio in his pocket
They dance and celebrate the incredible
They have completely cut Kogalo

Williamson withdraws Nasio
On comes Musa, this is tactical
It has become a routine ritual
Serunkuma tormenting the Leopards
And that's exactly what he does
Poking one past a hapless Matasi
And the Greens are back in this game
If the Blues lose it will be a big shame

Luc tampers with his lucky formation
Removes Seda and sends on Okwemba
Pulls out Were and throws in Khamati
This might be a mistake, spoiling a party
Bobby brings on Daddy and Lavatsa
Out goes Kiongera and Rasta
This might work out an equaliser

With just five minutes to go
This is stuning, unbeliavable
Kogalo have drawn level
It is 2-2 here at Kasarani
That was a lovely pass from Daddy
And a far post finish by Calabar
Ingwe have surrendered a two goal advantage
And now it's a two-all stalemate
Gor come back to earn a point
Ingwe once again disappoint
What a derby! What a thriller!
It's a draw but looks like there's a winner
